PA26/2960 - Works to Trees Under TPO Recommendation under review

Proposal

The subject Oak tree is on the boundary, and over growing over the boundary wall. The works are to reduce the overall tree by 25%, ensuring the tree remains healthy and does not overhang low onto the public pavement. The tree has caused some movement to the boundary wall. Description of Proposed Works to T1 (Oak Tree) • Tree Species and Identification: One Mature Oak Tree, designated as T1 on the accompanying site plan, located in the rear garden. • Proposed Operation: Target Crown Reduction by a maximum of 25% volume. • Reason for Works: To maintain the structural integrity and aesthetic form of the tree in a residential garden setting, mitigating excessive overhang toward the outbuilding and boundary structures while ensuring excellent light penetration. Quantifiable Pruning Specifications (Metrics): 1. Height Reduction: Reduce the overall height of the tree by 2.0 meters, pruning from a current estimated height of 10.0 meters down to a finished height of 8.0 meters. 2. Lateral Spread Reduction (Radial): Reduce the total lateral spread of the tree by a maximum of 1.5 meters radially across the eastern, western, northern, and southern crown aspects. This prunes the current estimated overall spread of 8.0 meters down to a finished spread of 5.0 to 5.5 meters. 3. Maximum Cut Size: All cuts will be targeted back to suitable lateral growth points. The maximum diameter of any single pruning cut will not exceed 50 millimeters to preserve health and prevent trunk decay. 4. Workmanship Standards: All operations will be strictly executed in compliance with BS 3998:2010 (Recommendations for Tree Work). Pruning will leave a natural, balanced teardrop crown shape, preserving a healthy outer garment of dynamic growth points and fully retaining the branch collars. Data via plota.co.uk
