Planning application data, straight into a spreadsheet.
Search across UK planning applications, filter the records you need, and bulk-download a clean CSV for Excel, Google Sheets, Power BI, or your own analysis. Every record is on Plota's public site, so you can inspect the data before you buy - then export it in bulk, no API integration needed.
Build your export
Choose the planning applications you want to analyse.
From hundreds of council portals to one clean export.
Plota does the collection, normalisation, and classification. You choose the slice of planning data you care about, see how many records match, then download it as a spreadsheet.
Choose the area
Work across one council, several councils, a postcode, or a wider UK search instead of repeating the same work across separate planning registers.
Narrow the records
Filter by planning category, decision, date, keyword, and postcode so the spreadsheet starts with the applications relevant to your question.
Download the CSV
See the matching count before you export, then open the file in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, Power BI, or your analysis workflow.
Build the dataset before you download it.
This demo runs on Plota's live dataset: change the filters and the count and rows below update from real planning applications. The paid product adds the full download and every column.
Export & alerts
Live data, sample filters - the full builder has more of everythingA sample of the filters. The full builder adds every work category, postcode, exact date ranges, decision dates, multi-keyword matching, and historic records back to 2016.

The same columns, whichever council it came from.
Plota gives each application a consistent structure while keeping the council source alongside it. Fields vary where councils do not publish them, but the spreadsheet stays predictable.

The point is to give you records you can take away: combine them with your own data, build a report, map them, or load them into the tools your team already uses.
- Open directly in Excel, Google Sheets, and Numbers
- Load into Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or a database
- Keep the council source URL with each full record
- Commercial use included - build it into products, reports, and client work
Use planning data for the job you already have.
A CSV export works whether you need a repeatable monthly dataset or a focused piece of research today.
Find development activity
Pull new homes, commercial schemes, change-of-use applications, solar, telecoms, or other application types across the places your team cares about.
Measure planning activity
Compare application volumes, decisions, categories, and locations across councils, postcodes, or time periods in your own workbook or BI tool.
Build a focused prospect list
Use recent applications as a starting point for research, then enrich and qualify the records in your normal CRM and outreach workflow.
Answer a specific question
Download the slice you need without building and maintaining an API integration just to complete a report, analysis, or client project.
CSV exports come with every paid plan.
Starter is enough for many practices, consultants, researchers, and local workflows. The same subscription also gives you API access if your use becomes more automated later.
- Bulk CSV export - 5,000 rows each month
- 20,000 API requests each month
- Historic planning records from 2016
- Commercial use included
- Pro planning alerts included
Download what has happened. Get alerted to what happens next.
Starter also includes Plota Pro alerts. Turn the same kind of search into an ongoing monitor and receive new matching applications by email, without using your CSV export allowance.
Watching defined areas? If all you need is to monitor specific places - with category filters, drawn map areas, and non-commercial use - you may not need a Pro plan at all. Our free standard planning alerts cover that, with up to 10 saved areas.
Search the planning data
Choose councils, categories, keywords, postcodes, and other filters.
Download current and historic matches
Create a CSV for analysis, reporting, prospecting, or your own database.
Watch for new matches
Keep the search running and receive relevant new applications by email as they appear.
Need the data to move automatically?
Every Starter subscription also includes the Plota API. Use CSV when a person needs the dataset, then switch to JSON, feeds, or webhooks when software needs it.
Straight answers about downloading the data.
How can I check the data before paying?
Plota's full dataset is public: search plota.co.uk, open any council, and read the very records you'd be exporting - each one links back to the official council source. When the data looks right for your question, the CSV is those same records in bulk.
Do I need a developer or an API integration?
The export builder is designed to be used directly in the Plota dashboard. Choose your filters, check the number of matching applications, and download the CSV. The API is there if you later want to automate the same data flow.
What counts as one export row?
One planning application in your downloaded file uses one export row. Starter includes 5,000 export rows each month, separate from its API request allowance.
Can I use the CSV in Excel, Google Sheets, or Power BI?
Yes. CSV is deliberately portable, so it can be opened directly in spreadsheet software or imported into BI tools, databases, and internal workflows.
How far back does the planning data go?
Search covers Plota's archive from 2016 on every paid plan. Bulk CSV export on Starter covers the last 12 months; Pro and above export the archive too. Deep Plota category classification applies to live data from 2026 onward, while older archive records use broader council application types.
Do Pro alerts use my export allowance?
Pro alerts are included with Starter and do not use CSV export rows. They are for monitoring future matching applications, while the export allowance is used when you download rows.
Can I use the data commercially?
Yes. Commercial use comes with every paid plan: put the data in your products, client reports, prospect lists, CRMs, and dashboards, and share what you build with it. Bulk export is included too - 5,000 rows a month on Starter, more on bigger plans. The API terms have the full details.
Get the planning applications you need, then take the data with you.
Create a free account to explore the dashboard, preview the export builder, and test the API. Downloading full CSVs unlocks on Starter: 5,000 rows a month from the last 12 months, Pro alerts, and commercial use.
