Website terms of use
Last updated: 29th September 2026
These terms apply to your use of plota.co.uk (the "site"), run by BRIDMORE LTD, trading as Plota, a company registered in England & Wales under company number 17366466, registered office 66 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NA ("we", "us"). By using the site you agree to them. If you use our API, the API terms apply to that use as well.
What the site is
Plota brings together planning applications published by UK planning authorities, adds its own classification, dates, locations and links, and presents them in one place. The underlying records come from the councils' public registers. The way we collect, check, organise and present them is our work, and the Plota database is protected by copyright and database right.
What you can do
You're welcome to search the site, read and print records, share links to individual pages, and use what you find for your own personal or business decisions, such as checking what's planned near a property or a site you're interested in.
What you can't do
You may not, without our written permission:
- collect or copy content from the site using automated tools, including scrapers, crawlers, bots, spiders or scripts, other than search engines and AI assistants that follow our robots.txt;
- extract or reuse all or a substantial part of the Plota database, or repeatedly extract smaller parts, which together amount to the same thing;
- sell, license, publish or give away data taken from the site, as a dataset or in any other form;
- use the site's data to build or improve a competing planning data product or service;
- use freehold owner details for direct marketing, including contacting owners to offer goods or services or to make other offers. This is one of HM Land Registry's conditions for that data, which every land sourcing platform offering it must pass on to its users;
- get round any limit, block or security measure on the site, including by using proxies or many different addresses to avoid detection; or
- use the site in a way that damages it or makes it harder for others to use.
If your software needs Plota data, the API is the supported route. Its terms explain what each plan allows.
Accuracy
We work hard to keep records accurate and up to date, but they come from council registers, which can be wrong, incomplete or late, and some details are our own classification. Always check the council's own record before relying on anything for a legal, financial or planning decision. Each record links to its council page.
Our liability
The site is provided as it is. We aren't liable for any loss arising from your use of it or reliance on it, except where the law doesn't allow us to exclude liability, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud.
If you break these terms
We may block your access to the site, and we may take legal action to protect our database and our rights.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site means you accept the current version.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
