26/02036/TPO - Tree Preservation Order Current

Proposal

Tree: T1 Mature Beech (Fagus sylvatica) Proposed works: Reduce selected overextended lateral limbs on the side of the crown overhanging the neighbouring property by up to 5 metres, pruning back to suitable secondary growth points within the inner canopy. The 5 m measurement represents the maximum reduction to the longest overextended limbs only and is not intended as a uniform 5 m reduction across the entire side of the crown. Following reduction of the overextended limbs, blend and reshape the surrounding canopy to maintain a natural and balanced crown profile. The finished crown spread on the reduced side will be approximately 8 metres. Crown lift to approximately 4 metres above ground level, achieved through the selective removal/reduction of secondary and tertiary branches only. No primary scaffold limbs are proposed for removal as part of the crown lift. The overall height of the tree and the crown on the tree-owners side will remain unchanged. All pruning cuts to be no greater than approximately 70 mm diameter, with works undertaken to suitable pruning points and in accordance with BS 3998:2010 Tree Work Recommendations. Reason for works: To reduce the excessive lateral extension of the crown over the neighbouring property, improve clearance beneath the canopy and manage the tree?s relationship with the adjoining property while retaining the overall size, form and amenity value of the mature Beech. Site constraints 4

Nutrient neutrality catchment: Solent: Includes Chichester and Langstone Harbours SPA/Ramsar, Solent and Southampton Water SPA/Ramsar, Solent Maritime SAC, Portsmouth Harbour SPA/Ramsar
New homes and overnight accommodation must show nutrient neutrality before approval.
Natural England advice: extra wastewater in these catchments harms protected habitats, so schemes must offset their nutrient load, usually through credits.
National infrastructure project 664 m away: M3 Junction 9 Improvement
The site is 664 m from the project boundary. Highway, decided. The project page says whether consent was granted.
Nationally significant infrastructure projects (power stations, electricity lines, pipelines, major roads and railways, harbours, airports and reservoirs) are consented by a Secretary of State under the Planning Act 2008, after an examination by the Planning Inspectorate, rather than by the council. The boundary is the one the Inspectorate consults on and can change as the scheme does. Projects are shown within 2 km of the site.
