DC/26/145166 - Trees in Conservation Areas Approved

Proposal

T1 - Plum - crown reduce 9m in height. Reduce height by 2m from 9m to 7m. Reduce laterals by 1m from 5m to 4m on all compass points. A mature Plum standing at the front of 38 Lock Chase in the communal area, occupying the planted bed between the building elevation and the pedestrian path. The tree has developed a broad, low, multi-stemmed form and the crown now extends over the path and across the front elevation of the terrace, reducing light to the ground floor rooms and limiting clearance over the access route. The extended lateral limbs carry considerable end-weight on the unions at the base of the multiple stems, where failure is a recognised risk in this form, and that load is directed over an area in regular use by the occupants. The proposed works are a light and proportionate crown reduction, taking the height and the lateral spread back to suitable growth points within the existing crown. Data via plota.co.uk

The pin for this application is the centre of its postcode rather than the building, so distances to nearby designations are measured from the postcode and can be out by the width of the postcode area. A boundary can run through a site and the council holds the definitive record: confirm with the council before relying on this.
