26/01993/TPO - Tree Preservation Order Current

Proposal

Sited to the rear of block 4 (flats 20-23) within the woodland shelter belt. T1 Sycamore It is proposed to undertake a selective crown reduction and lateral branch reduction to the south-western aspect of the Sycamore canopy. The proposed works are required to address branches that have become overextended and are encroaching upon the adjacent building and roof structure. The south-western canopy will be selectively reduced to establish a minimum clearance of approximately 2.5m from the roof structure, whilst retaining sufficient crown volume to maintain the tree?s natural form and amenity value. The upper canopy, which currently extends significantly above the roofline, will be selectively reduced and blended into the surrounding crown to reduce its dominance over the building. The overextended upper growth will be reduced by no less than approximately 1.5m, where necessary, to achieve a balanced and proportionate crown profile. Pruning will be undertaken selectively, with no individual pruning cut exceeding 60mm in diameter. Cuts will be made at suitable pruning points and positioned to minimise the risk of decay and maintain the tree?s structural integrity. The proposed works are intended to provide appropriate clearance from the building whilst retaining the overall character, health, structure and visual amenity of the tree. Works to be carried out in accordance with BS3998(2010), nearest best practice pruning points. Data via plota.co.uk

Site constraints 7

Grade II listed: The Old Parsonage
List entry 1350539 · 15 m away · 2 more listed buildings within 150 m (2 Grade II)
Listed building consent is needed for work that affects the special interest of a listed building, inside or out, on top of planning permission. Setting can be a consideration for buildings nearby; there is no fixed radius.

Nutrient neutrality catchment: Solent: Includes Chichester and Langstone Harbours SPA/Ramsar, Solent and Southampton Water SPA/Ramsar, Solent Maritime SAC, Portsmouth Harbour SPA/Ramsar
New homes and overnight accommodation must show nutrient neutrality before approval.
Natural England advice: extra wastewater in these catchments harms protected habitats, so schemes must offset their nutrient load, usually through credits.
National infrastructure project 358 m away: Hampshire Water Transfer and Water Recycling Project
The site is 358 m from the project boundary. Dam or reservoir, accepted for examination.
Nationally significant infrastructure projects (power stations, electricity lines, pipelines, major roads and railways, harbours, airports and reservoirs) are consented by a Secretary of State under the Planning Act 2008, after an examination by the Planning Inspectorate, rather than by the council. The boundary is the one the Inspectorate consults on and can change as the scheme does. Projects are shown within 2 km of the site.
