26/02053/TPC - Tree In A Conservation Area Current

Proposal

We have already consulted a tree surgeon we know and trust (Joe Platt) who has recommended the following tree work: Tree work/pollarding: Coxs Yard: 1. Sick ash on road (boughs drop off in winds) tree surgeon thinks this is a priority to cut down as there is risk of boughs falling into right of way road. 2. V tall conifer situated next to above sick rowan on corner of 3 Church Lane house driveway/coxs yard. Tree surgeon believes that when the sick rowan comes down the additional light and space will encourage growth plus new exposure to winds may mean it will be buffeted by wind. Trees in garden: 1. Dead miniature rowan - Tree surgeon thinks this should be cut down. 2. Ok miniature rowan - ditto. 3. Sick Cherry tree (boughs drop off in winds). Tree surgeon says that it has rot and should be cut down. 4. Sick Poplar (boughs drop off in winds). Tree surgeon thinks there is fair amount of dead wood and that it should be cut down. Removal of wood: A)Garden trees: boughs/trunks from the garden trees will be chopped up and left along the fence at the bottom of garden. Any woodchip can be scattered in woodland below her garden. B) Coxs Yard ash/conifer. Trees will be woodchipped and scattered in woodland below her garden. Data via plota.co.uk

Site constraints 6

Nutrient neutrality catchment: Solent: Includes Chichester and Langstone Harbours SPA/Ramsar, Solent and Southampton Water SPA/Ramsar, Solent Maritime SAC, Portsmouth Harbour SPA/Ramsar
New homes and overnight accommodation must show nutrient neutrality before approval.
Natural England advice: extra wastewater in these catchments harms protected habitats, so schemes must offset their nutrient load, usually through credits.
Littleton conservation area
Demolition needs planning permission and permitted development is restricted.
The council must give weight to preserving or enhancing the area's character and appearance. Not every council has published its boundaries as open data.
Habitat network: Network Expansion Zone
Where habitat is joined up enough to work as a network. Context, not a constraint on its own.
Also on the record
5 listed buildings within 150 m; Inside the Littleton (Winchester) built-up area; Natural England's Provisional ALC map (1:250,000, 1970s) had this area as grade 3, but it predates the buildings here and the current map does not class it as farmland.
Not affected
Outside flood zones 2 and 3 · Not green belt · No scheduled monument at the site

Checked on 7 October 2026. Historic England, the Environment Agency, Natural England and council datasets, Open Government Licence. A boundary can run through a site and the council holds the definitive record: confirm with the council before relying on this.
