26/TCA/2091 - Tree(s) in a Conservation Area Pending Consideration

Proposal

All tree work to be bs:3998 compliant T2: Beech– rear garden crown reduction to previous pruning points. Reduce the overall height and radial spread of the canopy by pruning back by approx. 1.5m, to the most recent, clearly defined cyclical reduction points. Pruning cuts must be made cleanly down to the parent stem or back to a distal lateral branch that is at least one-third the diameter of the removed branch, maintaining the overall architectural form and structural integrity of the crown. T3: Robinia– rear left side (above play area) crown clean (removal of deadwood) and climbing inspection throughout the entire canopy to mitigate risk to the underlying play area. Carry out a comprehensive aerial climbing inspection of the main stem, primary unions, and upper canopy structure. Document and report all findings regarding structural defects, decay, or physiological decline upon completion. T4: Cherry plum– right hand side crown reduction. Reduce the height by up to 1.5m and the radial spread by up to 2m. Prune back to suitable, well-placed lateral growth points to achieve a uniform, symmetrical canopy profile while preserving the structural framework of the tree. T5: Tulip tree– far rear right aspect crown reduction to previous pruning points, approx. 2.m. Reduce the overall height and radial spread of the canopy by pruning back to the most recent, visible cyclical reduction points to retain a balanced, structurally sound, and natural canopy outline. Site constraints 6

Wimbledon North conservation area
Demolition needs planning permission and permitted development is restricted.
The council must give weight to preserving or enhancing the area's character and appearance. Not every council has published its boundaries as open data.
Council document ↗
Archaeological priority area
An assessment or field evaluation may be asked for before ground works.
The council or Historic England considers archaeology likely here. A desk-based assessment, and sometimes trial trenching, can be asked for with the application.
Air quality management area: Merton AQMA
The council has declared the area as failing an air quality objective.
Schemes that add traffic, parking or combustion plant are assessed against the area's action plan and may need an air quality assessment.

Habitat network: Network Enhancement Zone 2
Where habitat is joined up enough to work as a network. Context, not a constraint on its own.

Outside flood zones 2 and 3 · Not green belt · No scheduled monument at the site

Checked on 24 September 2026. The pin for this application is the centre of its postcode rather than the building, so distances to nearby designations are measured from the postcode and can be out by the width of the postcode area. Historic England, the Environment Agency, Natural England and council datasets, Open Government Licence. A boundary can run through a site and the council holds the definitive record: confirm with the council before relying on this.
