Proposal

T4 oak (TPO/BDB/0349) fell and remove one oak from the rear of no.10 Glade Close. Close to neighbouring property. Fungal bracket growing on the base has enlarged recently. Tree officer lloyd fursdon has previously inspected this and asked for it to be monitored as he was concerned. The tree has been monitored and inspected for a few years. The fungus is growing and the base of the trunk sounds hollow when hit. Tree should be felled and removed for safety reasons immediately. Data via plota.co.uk

Site constraints 6

Article 4 direction
Basingstoke Town and Chineham and the surrounding villages of Old Basing, Oakley and Sherborne St John.. Named permitted development rights are withdrawn here.
An Article 4 direction withdraws particular permitted development rights, so work that would normally need no application needs one here. Not every council has published its directions.
Habitat network: Network Enhancement Zone 2
Where habitat is joined up enough to work as a network. Context, not a constraint on its own.
Also on the record
Local nature reserve 321 m away: Chineham Woods; 1 listed building within 150 m; Inside the Basingstoke built-up area; Natural England's Provisional ALC map (1:250,000, 1970s) had this area as grade 3, but it predates the buildings here and the current map does not class it as farmland.
Not affected
Outside flood zones 2 and 3 · Not green belt · No scheduled monument at the site

Checked on 6 October 2026. Historic England, the Environment Agency, Natural England and council datasets, Open Government Licence. A boundary can run through a site and the council holds the definitive record: confirm with the council before relying on this.
