S26/1821 - Trees in CA - Section 211 Notice Awaiting decision

Proposal

Row of 3 boundary beech which are managed to keep at appropriate size for location by pollarding. Repollard back to previously established height and spread into old cuts, this equates to a reduction of around 2m. They will then be left for the next 3 or 4 years until they reach a similar size and the process will repeat. They are on the boundary of a small garden with a large height differential to the neighbouring street (approx a 15ft drop) on a slope too steep to set up a mewp, making annual maintenance via trimming not viable. Therefore the pollard cycle is the best method of keeping the trees to be of a high aesthetic value whilst holding them at an appropriate size for location. Data via plota.co.uk

Habitat network: Network Enhancement Zone 2
Where habitat is joined up enough to work as a network. Context, not a constraint on its own.
Radon affected area, class 6
An estimated 30% or more of homes reach the radon action level. Indicative for the 1 km square, which takes the highest class found in it; a radon test gives the answer for a building.
From the British Geological Survey and UK Health Security Agency indicative atlas. Under building regulations, as the BRE guide BR 211 (2023) sets out, new buildings and extensions need basic radon protection from class 3 in England and Wales and from class 2 in Scotland, and full protection from class 5. The class at the site itself, from the detailed BGS map, decides which.
