The objective is to reduce end-weight on extended lateral limbs, lessen wind loading, improve structural balance and establish the tree on an appropriate long-term cyclical management regime. A secondary benefit will be a modest increase in daylight to the adjacent dwelling and garden whilst retaining the tree as a prominent landscape feature.
