Description
T1 - walnut - Reduce the crown by approximately 3 metres below previous reduction points, removing up to 6 metres from the overall height and up to 3 metres from the lateral spread, pruning back to suitable secondary growth to retain a natural crown form. This walnut has responded vigorously following previous reduction works and has regained a substantial proportion of its former size. The proposed reduction is intended to restore the tree to a more appropriate scale for its garden setting, reduce excessive shading to the lawn and surrounding garden, and maintain a balanced relationship with nearby structures and boundaries. Returning the tree to a size broadly consistent with its previous management cycle will help maintain its long-term amenity while retaining the tree as a prominent landscape feature. T2 - hawthorn - Fell to ground level. This hawthorn has limited individual amenity value within the wider landscape. Previous pruning has encouraged vigorous thorn growth and the tree is now an ongoing risk to my clients children. Its removal will improve light levels and allow better management of the garden without materially affecting the character or appearance of the area. The loss of this relatively small tree will be mitigated by the substantial retained tree cover on the site, including the adjacent mature walnut, ash and other surrounding trees and hedges.
