Objection and concerns raised

“Councillor Dave Mansell spoke and raised that Wiveliscombe Town Council have objected to the development.”
“He also raised that there was an issue with parking in the area and asked for clarification that there would be no restrictions on parking in the area due to the proposed development. He further raised that the previous developments have been exception sites and this site should be considered this for local need.”

What members debated
Members discussed flooding, traffic, affordable housing, biodiversity net gain and the weight given to the housing land supply shortfall.
“Councillors were invited to discuss the application, and the following points were raised: • Flooding Impacts were noted by Councillors • Councillors raised the importance of a sum possibly being secured to make improvements to the town centre with this application. • Councillors raised the increase in traffic that would be created by the development. • Councillors welcomed the inclusion of affordable housing.”
“Councillors raised the risk of flooding. The Lead Officer confirmed that Wessex Water as a statutory consultee did not raise objection to this and that the development is in a lowest risk ‘flood zone 1’ and there is a condition to mitigate the flooding and drainage risk. The Lead Planning Officer clarified that there is a drainage condition that stops any development until the drainage plan is submitted and reviewed by experts.”
