Who spoke

The agent spoke in support with the applicant, saying revised plans addressed earlier concerns and complied with planning policy.

Committee discussion

Members discussed the site’s elevation, visibility, hedging, ribbon development and whether the revised layout and natural boundaries addressed integration concerns.

“Councillor D Murphy queried the refusal reasons relating to ribbon development and integration as he believed the pods were located some distance from the road and the images had shown a large hedge that would help with integration.”

“Councillor McAteer proposed to overturn the recommendation to an approval for the following reasons: - He believed that the application was compliant with CTY1 as the tourism gain from the development should allow the development to be sited within the countryside. - The site was compliant with TSM6 as there would be no adverse impact on the local area, utilising existing natural boundaries and the design features would help integration concerns.”
