“LA05/2023/0170/F – Proposed infill dwelling and garage at 92 Glenavy Road, Lisburn…”
Minutes
A supporter addressed the committee
A representative spoke in support of the application and members' queries were addressed.
Members split over the policy reading
Some members felt the gap could accommodate two dwellings and planned to vote against officers, while another member disagreed with that reading of the policy.
“Councillor N Trimble spoke of the change in policy from CTY8 to COU8 and how the application would have been acceptable under the old policy but that the wording of the new policy created challenges. Councillor Trimble advised that the size of the gap, 46.5m, between the two buildings on either side of the proposed site, was in his opinion sufficient to accommodate two dwellings.”
“Alderman Gregg continued that while he agreed with most of the application it did not fit with policy COU8 in that the plot size was not large enough to accommodate two dwellings; and • Alderman O Gawith advised that the policy states the gap between buildings must be sufficient for two dwellings, not the plot of land, and while it would be illogical to build two dwellings on the site it could be possible.”
