Officer report
What officers recommended
Officers recommended granting advertisement consent subject to conditions.
“The application site is Council owned land…”
“Grant advertisement consent subject to conditions…”
Officer report
Why officers supported it
The flagpole would be discreet, screened by vegetation and sufficiently separated from homes, with no detrimental effect on appearance, amenity or highway safety.
“The flagpole would measure 8m in height and would be located in the south west corner of the existing park, adjacent to the entrance to the site. The flagpole would be of a similar height to that of the existing trees adjacent to the entrance to the site and surrounding features such as lampposts adjacent to the site.”
“The proposed flagpole would be separated 25m from the properties along Flora Road to the south and 24.3m from the dwellings along Park Avenue to the east. The flagpole would be screened by vegetation in the way of tall trees and is separated significantly as to not cause harm to residential amenity. With the above considered, the flagpole would not cause detrimental harm to residential amenity and would comply with the policies above.”
