What is proposed

“The proposal is for a single storey extension, from the southwestern elevation of the building, closest to the existing bowling green. The existing free-standing bowls pavilion; outdoor seating deck and two shipping containers for storage will be removed. The proposed extension will accommodate four changing rooms for bowls players; two official’s changing rooms; bowling green viewing area; three toilets; cleaner’s store and a large multifunction hall.”

“Improvements to the existing car park are also proposed with ten new parking spaces provided throughout the car park, creating thirty-eight in total. Additionally, two new disabled spaces are also proposed, bringing the total number of disabled spaces to four. To the north of the building, a covered bike shelter with space for ten bikes is also proposed.”

The community centre lies southeast of the village, accessed from Green Jones Brow, with a bowling green, parking, trees and nearby houses.

“The proposal site is the existing Burtonwood Community Centre to the southeast of the village. The site is accessed from a small cul de sac, Green Jones Brow which takes access from Chapel Lane.”

“The community centre is screened from the wider local area by a thick band of trees to the north, east and south of the site. The access road, Green Jones Brow is to the west of the site. There are four houses on this road which face towards the community centre with another that has frontage onto Chapel Lane and another elevation facing towards the proposal site.”
