26/02086/TPO - Tree Preservation Order Current

Proposal

(Land At Church Pond, Colden Common 1T Off St Vigor Way (On Right Of Way Footpath 501) T1 - Oak Tree - Tagged 398 It is a multi stem which is leaning low over a neighbouring properties fence line. Where is comes from the base of the main truck it has a hairline crack. We wish to cut off this limb just before the neighbouring fence to take the weight of the limb and using the removed wood, prop up the rest of the limb. T2 - Ash Tree - Tagged 400 This tree has advanced Ash Die back and we wish to pollard it just above the limb which goes left as this has various habitat holes and a hornets nest. Reducing to this height will reduce the risk Both trees are right next to right of way 501. Tree T1 limb is overhanging a garden. Data via plota.co.uk

Site constraints 9

Flood zone 2, rivers and sea
Medium chance: between a 1 in 100 and 1 in 1,000 annual chance from rivers, or 1 in 200 to 1 in 1,000 from the sea. Any development here needs a flood risk assessment. Defences are not counted.
The Environment Agency flood map for planning. Homes in zone 3 must also pass the sequential test. Surface water flooding is a separate map.
Flood map ↗
Nutrient neutrality catchment: Solent: Includes Chichester and Langstone Harbours SPA/Ramsar, Solent and Southampton Water SPA/Ramsar, Solent Maritime SAC, Portsmouth Harbour SPA/Ramsar
New homes and overnight accommodation must show nutrient neutrality before approval.
Natural England advice: extra wastewater in these catchments harms protected habitats, so schemes must offset their nutrient load, usually through credits.
Public footpath 10 m away
Matters where it crosses or adjoins the site: obstructing a path without a diversion order is an offence, and work cannot start until the order is confirmed.
Compiled from highway authority data, not the legal definitive map. A few authorities have not published, so no path shown is not proof there is none.
National infrastructure project 426 m away: Hampshire Water Transfer and Water Recycling Project
The site is 426 m from the project boundary. Dam or reservoir, accepted for examination.
Nationally significant infrastructure projects (power stations, electricity lines, pipelines, major roads and railways, harbours, airports and reservoirs) are consented by a Secretary of State under the Planning Act 2008, after an examination by the Planning Inspectorate, rather than by the council. The boundary is the one the Inspectorate consults on and can change as the scheme does. Projects are shown within 2 km of the site.
Planning Inspectorate project page ↗
Habitat network: Network Enhancement Zone 2
Where habitat is joined up enough to work as a network. Context, not a constraint on its own.
Also on the record
Radon affected area, class 3; Inside the Colden Common built-up area; Flood defence 39 m away (natural high ground, designed for a 1 in 25 year flood); Natural England's Provisional ALC map (1:250,000, 1970s) had this area as grade 3, but it predates the buildings here and the current map does not class it as farmland.
Not affected
Not green belt · No listed building at the site · No scheduled monument at the site

Checked on 12 October 2026. Historic England, the Environment Agency, Natural England, the Planning Inspectorate, the British Geological Survey and UK Health Security Agency (radon, contains BGS materials © UKRI) and council datasets, Open Government Licence. A boundary can run through a site and the council holds the definitive record: confirm with the council before relying on this.
