Officer report
Why officers supported it
Officers considered the signage acceptable because its colour, placement and non-illuminated design would cause no harm to heritage assets or the street scene.
“Whilst it is acknowledged that the proposed signage would be painted onto the fascia of the elevation of the Grade II* Listed Building, it is considered that no harm would result to the fabric of the Grade II* Listed Building, the Wimborne Minster Conservation Area or to the street scene.”
“The Conservation Officer has reviewed the proposed signage and notes the proposed placement of the advertisement on the existing fascia board and that the signage will have a shade and finish which will be of a traditional colour. As such, the Conservation Officer has no objections to the proposed scheme.”

What members discussed
Members saw the site, existing and proposed elevations, and were told the signage would not harm the listed building or conservation area.
“The site location was shown, identifying the museum within Wimborne. Members were advised that the property was situated within the main urban area, within the primary shopping area and within the Wimborne Minster Conservation Area. Reference was made to the Historic England listing description of the building, and it was noted that another listed building was located immediately to the north of the application site.”
“Existing elevations were displayed, showing the current signage arrangements, which comprised green fascia signage and two hanging signs. Proposed elevations were then presented, illustrating signage painted directly onto the fascia panels. The proposed signage would be painted in a sympathetic green colour and would include revised wording. The existing hanging signs would be retained.”
