DC/25/140507 - Trees in Conservation Areas Approved

Proposal

REAR: ONE Eucalyptus (T1)(ht.10m) FELL. Reason: close to top of retaining wall to lower ground in rear garden 17 Crescent Way, leaning and causing movement to boundary wall, the tall thin trunk moves in the wind, and the single brick retaining wall has shallow footings, as Bayliss report. Informative A: a replacement tree is encouraged, species such as crab apple, Amelanchier, mulberry, quince (Cydonia oblonga), whitebeam, hawthorn, hazel, strawberry tree, goat willow, Magnolia, Harlequin Glorybower (Clerodendrum trichotomum), Orange-barked Myrtle (Myrtus apiculate) for rear amenity, wildlife and shade to reduce high temperatures in increasingly hot summers due to the changing climate. Informative B: please also refer to previous 6-week notice to fell 2x rear trees (a plum & a palm) for species suggestions to replace urban greening amenity. Informative C: please create habitat log piles with arisings for wildlife and biodiversity. Data via plota.co.uk

Brockley Conservation Area · Small HMO Northern Extension. Named permitted development rights are withdrawn here.
An Article 4 direction withdraws particular permitted development rights, so work that would normally need no application needs one here. Not every council has published its directions.

The council has declared the area as failing an air quality objective.
Schemes that add traffic, parking or combustion plant are assessed against the area's action plan and may need an air quality assessment.

Checked on 1 November 2026. The pin for this application is the centre of its postcode rather than the building, so distances to nearby designations are measured from the postcode and can be out by the width of the postcode area.
