The works required include excavation of the area and formation of track bumps and banked turns of between 0.4m and 1.3m in height. The track will be a minimum of 2m in width and surfaced with asphalt with safety line painting in red.”

The site was a Council-owned open recreational field, with mature trees nearby, surface-water flood risk on a small part, and heritage assets at a distance.

“The application site relates to an open recreational field which was formerly a Pitch and Putt Course, located to the western edge of Clitheroe. The site is owned by the Council and is designated as Open Space within the Ribble Valley Core Strategy.”

“There are a number of mature trees within the wider site and the River Ribble lies approximately 95m to the west of the site. The site is located outside of Flood Zones 2 and 3 however a small part of the site is at risk of surface water flooding.”
