Send UK planning applications to Microsoft Dynamics 365
Create Dynamics 365 records from new planning matches, through Power Automate.
Plota brings UK planning applications from 389 council planning portals into one classified, source-linked feed. Connect it to Microsoft Dynamics 365 and every new planning application that matches your saved area and categories arrives in Microsoft Dynamics 365 automatically - so your team can act on local planning activity the day it is published, without checking council portals by hand.
Before you start
- Get an API key (a free demo key works for testing).
- Create a saved alert in Plota for the area and categories you want, and note its alert id.
How to connect Plota to Microsoft Dynamics 365
Create a Power Automate flow with an HTTP trigger
New flow → When an HTTP request is received. Save the flow once and Power Automate generates the URL. This is the Microsoft-native bridge, so you do not need Zapier or Make in the middle.
Register that URL with Plota
In your Plota dashboard, open Webhooks → Add a webhook, paste the Power Automate URL and pick your saved alert. Or via the API:
curl "https://api.plota.co.uk/v1/webhooks" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer plota_live_your_key" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"url": "https://prod-00.westeurope.logic.azure.com/workflows/…", "alert_id": 123}'Generate the schema from a real delivery
Fire a test event, copy the body, and paste it into Use sample payload to generate schema on the trigger. The event type is application.match.created and the application sits at data.application, so the dynamic content picker will show the planning fields by name once the schema is in:
curl -X POST "https://api.plota.co.uk/v1/webhooks/123/test" -H "Authorization: Bearer plota_live_your_key"Add the Dataverse action
Add Dataverse → Add a new row and pick your table. A dedicated Planning Application table is worth the ten minutes: planning records are not accounts or opportunities, and keeping them separate stops them distorting pipeline reporting.
Deduplicate on the event id
Deliveries are retried with backoff, and a retry reuses the same Plota-Event-Id header. Store it on the row and check it before creating, or a slow flow will quietly produce duplicate records for the same application.
Verify deliveries
Each webhook is signed - verify the Plota-Signature header (HMAC-SHA256 over timestamp.body). Full details in the API docs.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 integration FAQ
Can I send UK planning applications to Microsoft Dynamics 365?
Yes. When a new application matches a saved Plota alert, Microsoft Dynamics 365 receives it directly via a signed webhook. Each record includes the planning reference, authority, address, description, classified category, dates, and links to the official council source and the Plota page.
Do I need to write code to connect Plota to Microsoft Dynamics 365?
No. Microsoft Dynamics 365 can receive Plota's webhook natively, then map the planning application fields - no code required.
What planning data comes through to Microsoft Dynamics 365?
Every event carries the application reference, authority, address, postcode, description, Plota's classified category, status, received / validated / decision dates, coordinates, the Plota page URL and the official council source URL.
How current is the planning data?
Plota checks UK council planning portals daily and classifies new applications, so matches reach Microsoft Dynamics 365 as they are processed - not on a manual schedule.
Is the Microsoft Dynamics 365 integration free?
You can test the API with a free demo key. Live webhook delivery into Microsoft Dynamics 365 is available on the Starter plan and above; Plota's public planning search and email alerts stay free.
