26/02223/TPW - Tree Works Under TPO Awaiting decision

Proposal

Hornbeam - Reduce height and circumference. The tree currently stands taller than our house which is, approximately, 13 meters high, the approximate height of the tree stands around 15 to 16 meters. (please see attached photograph). At its widest point (the middle and lower branches) it spans approximately 14 meters. If the requested reduction was granted then the tree would have a final height of approximately 12.5 meters and a final, maximum, span of just under 12 meters. We would therefore request a 40% crown reduction, taking approximately a 16% reduction from the widest and tallest branches with the smaller branches having less of a reduction to ensure the tree holds its shape but moves away from our house and boundary fences. Site constraints 7

North Wessex Downs National Landscape
Great weight to conserving the landscape; major development restricted.
Previously an area of outstanding natural beauty, which is still the designation in law. Since 2023 authorities must seek to further its purpose, not merely have regard to it.
Protected tree 9 m away: 201/21/0356 - T2 - HOR
2 protected trees within 15 m. Named in a tree preservation order: work to it, its roots included, needs the council's consent first.
Root protection areas reach up to 15 m from a large tree, so an extension or new foundations this close usually needs a tree survey. Only some councils publish their single trees, and a position can be approximate: the order at the council is the definitive record, and no tree shown is not proof there is none.

Habitat network: Network Enhancement Zone 2
Where habitat is joined up enough to work as a network. Context, not a constraint on its own.
Also on the record
Radon affected area, class 2; SSSI 463 m away: Bowdown and Chamberhouse Woods SSSI; Inside the Kintbury built-up area; Natural England's Provisional ALC map (1:250,000, 1970s) had this area as grade 3, but it predates the buildings here and the current map does not class it as farmland.
Not affected
Outside flood zones 2 and 3 · Not green belt · No listed building at the site

A boundary can run through a site and the council holds the definitive record: confirm with the council before relying on this.
