25/01797/TCA - Works To Trees In Conservation Area Under Consultation

Proposal

T1 x Oak - longitudinal area of necrotic bark dysfunctional timber on codominant stem/lateral at 15-20m north-east, strong reaction wood formation to 18m, limited reaction wood with more extensive decay above 18m, minimal internal canopy, within falling distance of the stable, reduce the sail area of the codom stem by removing up to 5m in length to small pruning points from approximately half of the secondary branches, to encourage the development of new growth at the pruning point and permit a future reduction of the retained branches. The proposed work does not follow BS3998 but will not impact on the amenity value of the group and will reduce the risk of limb shedding during storm force winds. Data via plota.co.uk

Site constraints 7

Kirtlington conservation area
Demolition needs planning permission and permitted development is restricted.
The council must give weight to preserving or enhancing the area's character and appearance. Not every council has published its boundaries as open data.
Council document ↗
Habitat network: Network Enhancement Zone 1
Where habitat is joined up enough to work as a network. Context, not a constraint on its own.
3 listed buildings within 150 m of the postcode pin
Nearest: Nutlands, Grade II, about 34 m from the postcode pin · 3 Grade II
The site itself is not listed. Listed building consent is needed for work that affects the special interest of a listed building, inside or out, on top of planning permission. Setting can be a consideration for buildings nearby; there is no fixed radius.

Radon affected area, class 2; Inside the Kirtlington built-up area; Natural England's Provisional ALC map (1:250,000, 1970s) had this area as grade 3, but it predates the buildings here and the current map does not class it as farmland.

Outside flood zones 2 and 3 · Not green belt · No scheduled monument at the site

Checked on 14 October 2026. The pin for this application is the centre of its postcode rather than the building, so distances to nearby designations are measured from the postcode and can be out by the width of the postcode area. Historic England, the Environment Agency, Natural England, the British Geological Survey and UK Health Security Agency (radon, contains BGS materials © UKRI) and council datasets, Open Government Licence. A boundary can run through a site and the council holds the definitive record: confirm with the council before relying on this.
