26/01463/TW - Tree Works to TPO Registered

Proposal

Coastal slope - north of the main garden, Various trees / management to form a future wooded garden. Selectively thin out the wooded slope area to the west of the path way down to the beach, prioritizing on the removal of non native tree species (bay, holm oak etc.) Remove other trees of poor form, such as goat willow, to benefit and give space to trees that can be allowed to mature. If/as needed give the retained trees a first formative prune (starting to make good from the 'topping' re-growth that had previously been carried out). To the east of the path, remove the bay and larger willow suppressing fruit trees. Data via plota.co.uk

Site constraints 7

Nutrient neutrality catchment: Solent: Includes Chichester and Langstone Harbours SPA/Ramsar, Solent and Southampton Water SPA/Ramsar, Solent Maritime SAC, Portsmouth Harbour SPA/Ramsar
New homes and overnight accommodation must show nutrient neutrality before approval.
Natural England advice: extra wastewater in these catchments harms protected habitats, so schemes must offset their nutrient load, usually through credits.
IOW 9 Gurnard Luck to West Cowes Chain Ferry across the site
Matters where it crosses or adjoins the site; the route and its margin are protected.
Special area of conservation 108 m away: Solent and Dorset Coast
Work nearby can need a habitats assessment.
Harm to a protected site is only accepted where there is no alternative and an overriding public interest.
Habitat network: Network Enhancement Zone 2
Where habitat is joined up enough to work as a network. Context, not a constraint on its own.
Also on the record
National landscape 457 m away: Isle Of Wight; Inside the Cowes built-up area; Priority habitat 47 m away: Deciduous woodland.
Not affected
Outside flood zones 2 and 3 · Not green belt · No listed building at the site
