Proposal

Instalation of replacement high pressure main water pipe along Hampstead Way, Reynolds Close and Hampstead Heath Extension between Wellgarth Road and Wildwood Road NW11 7XX. Works to be carried out are a like-for-like replacement of existing distribution mains in Hampstead Way and Hampstead Heath DMA. Works consist of replacement of approximately 0.77km of an existing cast iron/ spun iron/ steel mains with a 180mm, 150mm and 125mm polyethylene (PE) pipeline which runs within and adjacent to Hampstead Heath Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC). The mains to be replaced are entirely below-ground and the default construction method will be open-cut with excavations at 900mm depth and 480mm width to safely access and replace the pipe. There may be potential for the works to be carried out using trenchless techniques (slip-lining and/or directional drilling methodology). Thames Water has identified these assets as being at high risk of failure due to recurring bursts along the route. Data via plota.co.uk
