Strong callus growth around the wound, showing the tree has been trying to compartmentalise the defect for a while. Epicormic shoots emerging from the base, which can be a stress response. As such the tree is now a likely risk for basal failure. Tree will be replaced with another Birch Data via plota.co.uk
