Proposal

The trees are not protected by TPO but are within the Goring Conservation area. Tree 1 is a variegated holly / Ilex Tree 2 is a contorted willow Salix matsudana The Holly has been growing very slowly for the last > 5 years and the growth and foliage is sparse and thin The Salix has doubled in size in the same period and is leaning more and more towards the house in spite of a heavy duty post support. We wish to remove both of these trees. It is our intention to replant with at least one new tree as soon as possible to make the most of the best time of the year for tree planting. We would like to plant a new flowering cherry to compliment the 2 other cherries in the same front flower bed. Data via plota.co.uk

Site constraints 4

Chilterns National Landscape
Great weight to conserving the landscape; major development restricted.
Previously an area of outstanding natural beauty, which is still the designation in law. Since 2023 authorities must seek to further its purpose, not merely have regard to it.
Goring Conservation Area conservation area
Demolition needs planning permission and permitted development is restricted.
The council must give weight to preserving or enhancing the area's character and appearance. Not every council has published its boundaries as open data.
Also on the record
Inside the Goring built-up area; Natural England's Provisional ALC map (1:250,000, 1970s) had this area as grade 3, but it predates the buildings here and the current map does not class it as farmland.
Not affected
Outside flood zones 2 and 3 · Not green belt · No scheduled monument at the site

Checked on 8 October 2026. Historic England, the Environment Agency, Natural England and council datasets, Open Government Licence. A boundary can run through a site and the council holds the definitive record: confirm with the council before relying on this.
