2026/2231 - Tree Conservation Area Registered

Proposal

Thames Ditton Conservation Area - x1 Platanus hispanica (London Plane) Proposed works: Crown reduce by approximately 3 metres, equating to circa 30% of the existing crown volume, maintaining a balanced and natural form. Crown lift to provide approximately 5 metres clearance above ground level. Remove all dead, defective, rubbing and crossing branches as appropriate. Justification: The proposed works are considered necessary to manage the tree in relation to the associated car park and areas of public access. The reduction will lessen end-weight and loading on extended lateral branches, helping to mitigate the foreseeable risk of branch failure and branch drop over vehicles and pedestrian areas. Crown lifting will improve suitable clearance above the car park and reduce ongoing conflict between the lower canopy, vehicles and users of the site. Removal of dead, rubbing and crossing branches will further improve crown condition and reduce potential hazards. The works will also improve light penetration beneath and around the canopy while retaining the tree as a prominent and valuable landscape feature. All pruning will be undertaken sympathetically in accordance with BS3998:2010, retaining an appropriate finished crown structure and natural appearance. Approximate finished dimensions following works: Height: approximately 16-17 metres Crown spread: approximately 11 metres. Data via plota.co.uk
