T/26/102296 - TPO Application Valid - Awaiting Decision

Proposal

1no. Oak (T231) - Overall crown reduction of up to 4m. A visual survey identified a compressed fork, with the possibility of internal cracking at the union. Overall crown reduction proposed to reduce the mechanical loading on the fork and help mitigate the potential risk of failure. The works are intended as a preventative measure to retain the tree whilst addressing the identified structural concern. 1no. Oak (T232) - Crown height reduction and reduction of lateral branches extending over 6 Churchward Gardens by up to 3m. A visual survey identified an elongated, overextended crown with a bias towards 6 Churchward Gardens. A reduction in crown height and lateral branches is proposed to reduce crown extension and associated mechanical loading. The works are intended as a preventative measure to manage potential structural risk whilst retaining the tree. All pruning will be undertaken using good Arboricultural practice, with reduction cuts made to suitable growth points and the natural shape and form of each crown maintained. Data via plota.co.uk

Site constraints 4

Nutrient neutrality catchment: Solent: Includes Chichester and Langstone Harbours SPA/Ramsar, Solent and Southampton Water SPA/Ramsar, Solent Maritime SAC, Portsmouth Harbour SPA/Ramsar
New homes and overnight accommodation must show nutrient neutrality before approval.
Natural England advice: extra wastewater in these catchments harms protected habitats, so schemes must offset their nutrient load, usually through credits.

Checked on 17 October 2026. The pin for this application is the centre of its postcode rather than the building, so distances to nearby designations are measured from the postcode and can be out by the width of the postcode area. A boundary can run through a site and the council holds the definitive record: confirm with the council before relying on this.
