Proposal
T1 Lime Crown reduce height 5-6m to provide balanced shape with even and flowing canopy outline Crown reduce spread 2-3m branch lengths to balance retaining soft furnishing growth JUSTIFICATION The historic structural movement the property and drainage damage at St Lukes Vicarage, Penn Road, London, N7 9RE requires for management of the Common Lime tree, T1 in conjunction with repairs and remedial works. The following is relevant (i) Tree T1 is lapsed from a cyclical management regime which dates 20-25 years +. However this is recommended to be re-established which as shown from research shall manages water uptake for the ‘Moderate’ NHBC categorised tree particularly where the reduction of over 30% shall demonstrate a significant diminishing of crown size and related water uptake capabilities (ii) The tree is an integral to the character and streetscape of Penn Road and the wider Conservation Area landscape; the tree’s protection is deemed of importance as set out within LB Islington’s Tree Policy to preserve and enhance the canopy cover of the borough (iii) The tree due to lapsed management also exhibits structural defects and over-extended form which requires management unrelated to the management of water uptake capabilities. These works (also included within the Schedule of Works where in conjunction with structural and drainage management works) Therefore remedial works via crown reduction of the tree (which shall apply a reduction of over 30%) shall restore management of water uptake capabilities whilst retaining the tree with all the positive attributes highlighted within the Conservation Area. Furthermore tree works shall rester management in line with good arboricultural practice and to dispense with duty of care. Data via plota.co.uk
