Proposal
2no. Apple Trees - Reducing height and spread, focusing on overly-long branches but ensuring the total amount of the live crown removed does not exceed 25%. We plan to remove the dead, diseased and broken branches together with those branches crossing and rubbing each, other to enable light to get to the lower branches. Following the RHS guidelines and good horticultural practice. Trees have not been managed for at least 10years and are extremely overgrown and unpractical for harvesting fruit above 12ft. The majority of the apples on the high branches are beyond reach even when using our extended long-handled apple picker, they then fall from a great height and end up bruised and with broken skins meaning they are unusable. Having discussed the management at length with Adam Maskill, Arboriculture Manager at EBC, we would like to manage the trees in November 2026. Data via plota.co.uk
