Proposal

T1 - Sycamore - remove failed canopy and reduce to monolith 14m in height. Remove the failed upper canopy, which has snapped out and is currently down across the rear garden. Remove the remaining dangerous hanging limbs held within the crown. Reduce the remaining stem to a standing monolith at approximately 6m, to be retained in situ as habitat. A mature Sycamore standing to the rear of the property. The upper section of the tree has failed, snapping out and falling into the garden below, and a number of fractured and part-detached limbs remain hung and lodged within the crown at height. These limbs are unsupported, are held under tension and are liable to release without warning; they will not shed safely of their own accord and cannot responsibly be left in place. The garden immediately beneath is in regular use by the occupants of the property and is bounded on both sides by neighbouring gardens, so the retained material presents an immediate and foreseeable risk of injury to persons and of damage to property. The failure has also removed the tree's main structural leader, leaving the remaining stem and side branches compromised and with no prospect of forming a safe, balanced crown. The proposed works are the minimum necessary to remove the immediate hazard: the fallen canopy is cleared, the hung and fractured limbs are taken down, and the sound lower stem is retained as a standing monolith at approximately 6m rather than the tree being felled outright.
