Four-horse stables and menage at Station Farm, Denton Road, Horton
Summary of planning committee decision
Decided by West Northamptonshire Non-Strategic Planning Committee on 4 Jun 2026.
What was proposed
The application proposed four stables, a 40-metre by 20-metre menage and 1.8 hectares of land for personal horse keeping.
“The application site is in open countryside adjacent to Station Farm which is located to the north-east of the village of Horton. Station Cottages are located on the north side of the road with Station Farm located opposite on the south side of the road. 1 & 2 Station Farm Cottages have recently been acquired by Station Farm. The land was previously arable land but will be resown with grass for the proposed use of keeping horses.”
“The development is for the creation of an outdoor menage and construction of stables for 4 horses and to use a total area of 1.8 hectares for keeping horses for personal means. The proposed stable block will be a single storey U-shaped building constructed in blockwork with facing brick and weatherboarding which is typical of equestrian buildings in rural settings.”
