Members’ discussion

Members discussed renewable energy, drainage, the application’s preparation, heating, drying space, open-space maintenance, housing supply and electric vehicle charging.

“Members queried if there are options for gas central heating as opposed to electric currently included in the application. It was confirmed that building regulations are separate to the planning system, however modern homes are being led down the electric route.”

“Members queried if there would be an option for a communal space to dry clothes for flats. Officers advised the units included outdoor space in the form of a balcony along and Building Regulations, separate to the planning system, require new homes to have adequate ventilation to avoid mould, utilising options likevents. Members were advised that there are no policies that could be used to mandate communal drying space.”
