“The Proposal The proposed development extends to approximately 0.8 hectares. It is to provide energy storage capacity for the grid. Up to 24 battery units are to be installed on the site. The dimensions of each unit will be 6.1 metres in length, 2.5 metres in width and 3 metres in height. Twelve electrical inverters will sit between the battery units. An acoustic barrier is proposed which is to be 4 metres in height and constructed of timber.”

The site and surroundings

The site was an agricultural field beside the existing electricity grid supply point, with the River Tay Special Area of Conservation 200 metres to the north.

“Considerations The Site The proposed development site lies in Boreland, to the northern extents of the village of Killin, approximately 1.5km to the west of the western end of Loch Tay and south from the River Lochay. The site is an agricultural field which is adjacent to the Killin Electricity Grid Supply Point (GSP) to the west, agricultural grassland to the north, a mixed tree plantation to the east and a road to the south.”

“The River Tay Special Area of Conservation is located to the north of the site. This designation runs along the River Lochay and is located 200 metres north of the proposed site. The site is within Stirling Council’s ‘Glen Lochay’ Local Landscape Area, with the site being located within the landscape character area of Glen Lochay.”
