Officer report

Earlier site use

A previous slurry tank was closer to the objector, while the report found no relevant planning history associated with the site.

“The objection relates to the location of the slurry tank which they believe to be located too close to their dwellings which would cause discomfort to their family. Environmental Health have been consulted in relation with the application and in particular the objectors’ comments. noted that the proposed slurry tank is located approx. 12m from the nearest unconnected 3rd party dwelling.”

“Figure 1 - Map showing the previous layout of the site with the slurry tank and mixing point located closer to No.38. Planning History There is not considered to be any relevant planning history associated with the site.”

Officer report

What officers recommended

Officers recommended approval because the active farm needed the buildings, their design suited the area, and the new tank was further from the objector.

“Policy CTY 12 goes on to list criteria that should be met for development on active and established agricultural holdings. (a) It is necessary for the efficient use of the agricultural holding or forestry enterprise; There is evidence that there were agricultural buildings within this site that were used historically to run the farm in the past and that there was a slurry tank located within the site also.”

“As discussed, environmental health have noted that all of the agricultural buildings here are located within 75m of a 3 rd party dwelling with he slurry tank located approx. 12m from this property, they cannot support the application in its current form.”
