What officers recommended

Officers recommended approval because the proposal was considered acceptable for residential amenity, landscape, ecology, heritage, access and safety.

“It adds that development that generates energy from renewable resources will be permitted provided that the proposals will not result in an unacceptable adverse impact on :- (a) public safety, human health, or residential amenity; (b) visual amenity and landscape character; (c) biodiversity, nature conservation or built heritage interests; (d) local natural resources, such as air quality or water quality; and (e) public access to the countryside.”

“The site exists within the Sperrin Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is within Slieve Gallion Landscape Character Area. The north western slopes of Slieve Gallion, with their more rounded topography and lower visual prominence, are somewhat less sensitive, particularly where they are already affected by commercial sand and gravel extraction. The context of this area and landform is such that it is considered the scale of the proposal is acceptable.”
