10-pen cattery at Roseberry, Boughton Monchelsea
Summary of planning committee decision
Decided by Mid Kent Planning Committee on 18 Sept 2025.
What was proposed
The application proposed an L-shaped timber outbuilding with a 10-pen cattery and utility room, potentially accommodating up to 20 cats.
“Although identified as countryside, the application dwelling is part of a linear form of dwellings situated on long thin plots backing onto grassland/woodland. The application property (Roseberry) is a detached chalet style bungalow featuring a steep roof form. It is setback from the road frontage behind a large garden and a long driveway that leads to a detached single garage. The site is not situated within a conservation area or National Landscapes. 2.”
“The L-shaped, timber outbuilding/cattery is proposed to be located at the end of the rear garden, adjacent to the existing timber shed and a glazed greenhouse along the northern boundary. The 10-pen cattery would measure approximately 10.8m wide by 6.35m deep, measured at the widest and deepest points. It would have a mono-pitched roof with a maximum eaves height of approx. 2.3m. A utility room measuring 3m wide, 3m deep and 1.9m high would be attached to the cattery.”
