The building is a Carnegie library, in English baroque style built in 1912 as a major civic development on the site. A two-storey side extension with a glass and steel frontage was approved in 2008 (Ref: CAC/08/0004) and was built in 2010, this addition is also Locally Listed (Entry No.31). 4.2.”
