Officer report

Officers’ recommendation

Officers recommended approval because the board would have an acceptable impact on amenity and safety and would not harm the landscape setting.

“The notice board would therefore not significantly detract from the character of the buildings and would not harm amenity or the character of the National Landscape. 6.7.In terms of amenity impact the proposed notice board would have a more suitable appearance and size that would allow it to both look better and serve its purpose better while remaining in a location that it would be expected to be in. Therefore, no harm to amenity has been found to result from the proposal.”

“It would not appear excessively large or visually prominent on the toilet block. By being larger the notice board has an improved ability to display information. The area where the notice board is installed already features development and it would not result in harm to the character of Sizewell Beach or the National Landscape. The proposal therefore would have an acceptable impact on amenity. 7.3.The notice board is located in a safe location that is easily accessible.”

Who spoke

An Assistant Planner presented the proposal, showed the proposed and existing notice boards, and explained why it came to committee.

Committee discussion

A councillor questioned the stated board size, and the Assistant Planner said the reference to A4 was probably a report error and should say A1.
