The civic society questioned the effect on the George and the risk of similar canopies spreading along the harbourfront, while one comment supported the materials.
“Weymouth Civic Society Concern raised of the effect of the development on the setting of the George, and in particular we question the "pergola" with servery. Concern raised of the risk of proliferation of canopies and related development in continued creep along the whole harbourside frontage, including the Old Fish Market (holder of the Society's 2021 Annual Award), upsetting the balance and the fine setting of these buildings.”
