“The site is located on the southern edge of Houghton and is flanked by houses to the north and west. There is a copse of trees to the east. To the south is a compound and garage operated by Cumbria Constabulary Vehicle Maintenance Unit Northern Traffic Unit. Access will be provided via Gladwin Drive, which connects to Houghton Road.”

“There are no heritage designations such as listed buildings, conservation areas, or scheduled monuments directly affecting the site. However, it lies adjacent to the Hadrian's Wall Buffer Zone and Vallum that are to the south of the site.”
