The site is a prominent, sloping gap at the northern edge of St Fergus, beside open countryside, residential properties and protected land.

“To east of ‘Botany View’ is a modern dwelling which is currently near completion. The area of St Fergus to the south is predominantly residential with the majority of the house types being of a detached single storey (bungalow) style. Directly to the north of the site is an area of protected land P1 which is part of the exclusion zone for the St Fergus Gas Terminal.”
