Loft conversion at 17 Walton Place, Weston Turville
Summary of planning committee decision
Decided by Buckinghamshire Central & North Buckinghamshire Area Planning Committee on 4 Feb 2026.
What was proposed
The application proposed a loft conversion with a rear dormer, three front rooflights, two additional bedrooms and a shower room.
“PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT 2.3 Planning permission is sought for a loft conversion with rear facing dormer and front facing rooflights. There would be three rooflights in the front roofslope, each of which would measure approximately 0.6 metres by 0.5 metres in size. The rear facing dormer would measure about 6.1 metres in width by 2.7 metres in height and 3.3 metres in depth.”
Officer report
The site
The property is a two-storey semi-detached home in a residential area of similar two-storey semi-detached houses.
“The property is a two-storey, semi-detached property located in the south west corner of Walton Place, Weston Turville. The property is constructed from brick with a gabled roof. It has previously been extended through a part single storey, part two storey side extension and porch. To the rear is a conservatory. The surrounding area is residential in character and is mainly made up of two storey semi- detached dwellings that are of a similar size and appearance.”
Officer report
Why officers supported it
Officers considered the proposal acceptable overall, with no unacceptable effects on design, amenity, highway safety, flooding, ecology, landscape, trees or heritage.
“However, given that there are no parking issues that have been identified, and there is alternative available parking about 30 seconds walk away in School Approach, a refusal on the basis of an additional shortfall of 0.5 car parking space would not justify refusal of the application. There are no other issues that would result in the development being prejudicial to highway safety.”
“Overall Assessment 8.1 This section brings together the assessment that has so far been set out in order to weigh and balance relevant planning considerations in order to reach a conclusion on the application. The scheme has been considered acceptable in terms of its impact on design, residential amenity, transport and parking, landscape, trees and hedgerows, ecology, flooding and the historic environment.”
