P2026/1105/TRE - Tree Works Notification in Conservation Area Approved

Proposal

Ficus carica located to the rear of Pensioners Court in The Charterhouse. See map for location. The tree has been planted very close to a wall that is the boundary wall between Charterhouse and QMUL Charterhouse Square campus. The wall appears to have cracked possibly as a result of suckering around the base of the fig. Additionally there is a suspicion the the figs roots have caused damage to water pipes causing a leak into the basement of QMUL. QMUL also store gas canisters on the other side of the wall, which would be problematic if the wall were to collapse. The Charterhouse would like to remove this tree to prevent further damage to the wall and/ or water pipes. Data via plota.co.uk
