Description

Permission is sought to fell the the Beech tree, on the grounds of safety, damage to property, and ongoing risk. The tree has grown to a size and spread that is now causing direct and ongoing issues, including the following: The upper canopy and branches are in contact with, and in close proximity to, overhead electricity cables, raising concerns regarding electrical safety, risk of damage to infrastructure, and potential danger to occupants, visitors and contractors. Significant branches overhang the property and are beginning to impact the roof and guttering. There is visible interference with guttering, and branches are causing damage to roof tiles, increasing the risk of water ingress, damp, and further structural damage if left unaddressed. Due to the size and positioning of the tree above the driveway, bird activity is substantial, resulting in frequent fouling of vehicles and the driveway surface. This is an ongoing issue and presents a health and hygiene concern, particularly given the proximity to the main access and parking area of the property. Taken together, these issues demonstrate that the tree is no longer appropriate for its location. While consideration has been given to ongoing maintenance, the extent of the conflicts with essential services, the building fabric, and the primary access to the property mean that felling is considered the most appropriate and proportionate solution to mitigate further risk and damage. The proposed works are therefore necessary in the interests of safety, prevention of further damage to property, and effective long-term management of the site. TPO 426W.
